179 passengers died in South Korea crash… Collision with a flock of birds, plane broke into pieces while trying to belly land

In South Korea on Sunday December 29 ,2024 a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 plane carrying 181 people slid off the runway and hit a fence due to a landing gear malfunction. A video posted on social media shows the plane sliding off the runway and bursting into flames.

In South Korea, on Sunday, a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 aircraft carrying 181 people slipped off the runway and hit a fence due to a fault in the landing gear. 179 people lost their lives in this accident. Yonhap News Agency quoted fire brigade personnel as saying that two people survived in the plane, while all other passengers and crew members died. Relief and rescue personnel have recovered 124 bodies till the time of writing the news.

According to the news agency, the accident occurred at 9:07 am local time when Jeju Air flight 2216 was landing at Muan International Airport in the southwest of the country. The plane was returning to South Korea from Bangkok.

A video posted on social media shows the plane sliding off the runway and bursting into flames. According to local media, officials believe the plane collided with a flock of birds, causing its landing gear to malfunction.
