As fast as e-bikes are being sold in the capital, complaints of battery failure are also increasing at the same pace. Such complaints are constantly reaching the consumer forum in which the companies are not giving the correct battery even in many times. There are many companies which have sold the new vehicle to the customers by installing old battery.
Shivam Sahu of the capital deposited 10 thousand online advance for EV vehicle in 2022. He paid 84 thousand while buying the vehicle. But service book, foot mat and original charger were not given with the vehicle. Due to this the battery of the vehicle got damaged. When he complained to the company, a rotational battery was received after a month. Later that also got damaged.
After this he filed a petition in the forum. The forum admitted that the company has reduced the service by not giving the original charger and the correct battery to the complainant. Therefore, the forum has ordered the company to return the vehicle’s 94 thousand rupees to the complainant with 6 percent interest. Similarly, Mohammad Abdul Rahim bought Okaya company’s e-scooter in July 2023.
The company did not provide the battery and connector of the model. Because of this the battery was not fully charged. When the company refused to give a new battery, he filed a case in the forum. The forum ordered the company to return 72 thousand rupees to the complainant with 6 percent interest.
