Raipur: Chhattisgarh’s traditional festival Teeja-Pora was celebrated with great pomp on Sunday Augsut 24 , 2025 at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in the capital Raipur on the invitation of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. A large number of women from across the state reached to participate in this grand event organised on the invitation of ‘Vishnu Bhaiya’.

The ministers and public representatives of the state government gave a warm welcome to the mothers and sisters and presented them with sarees, makeup items and Chhattisgarhi khalewa as gifts.

Chief Guest Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw wished the mothers and sisters present on the occasion of Teeja festival. Addressing the Mahila Sammelan, he said that Teeja is an important festival of honour, respect and determination of women power in Chhattisgarh.

He extended best wishes on behalf of the government to all the mothers and sisters who keep Nirjala fast and wish for the safety and prosperity of their husbands and families. Deputy CM Sao said that the presence of such a large number of mothers and sisters on the invitation of Chief Minister Sai itself proves the importance of this festival.

He said that as soon as Teeja arrives, happiness fills the hearts of mothers and sisters. There is a wait for the brother and nephew to come to take Teeja. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government is continuously working to increase the honour, respect and pride of Chhattisgarh Mahtari.

Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, more than 70 lakh mothers and sisters of the state are getting an amount of rupees one thousand rupees per month. With this, they are becoming financially empowered and are standing shoulder to shoulder with their husbands in running the household. He said that the government will continue to bring such schemes in future to make women self-reliant.

Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam also congratulated the Teeja-Pora festival and said that this occasion is very special for all Teejharin sisters. This festival is not limited to religious rituals only, but is a symbol of happiness, unity and intimacy for women.

Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade said that Teeja is a festival of religious, social and natural harmony. Mothers and sisters work to keep the family together like heaven. Married women keep Nirjala fast and worship Shiva-Parvati wishing for the long life of their husbands. Fields and barns become green in Sawan, in which the tireless hard work of cows and bulls contributes. Our paddy granaries are filled with this hard work. Former MP Smt. Saroj Pandey, who was present in the program, also addressed the conference.

On this occasion, Pandavani singer Padmashree Smt. Usha Barle and folk singer Kumari Aru Sahu were honored by presenting mementoes. Labour and Industry Minister Mr. Lakhanlal Devangan, MLA Mr. Sunil Soni, Mr. Indra Kumar Sao, Mr. Anuj Sharma, Hair Shilpi Board Chairman Mrs. Mona Sena, Minority Commission Chairman Mr. Amarjeet Chhabra, Food Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Mr. Sanjay Srivastava, Raipur Mayor Mrs. Meenal Chaubey and other dignitaries were present in the program.

Expressed gratitude to ‘Vishnu Bhaiya’ for the invitation of Teej-Pora

A large number of mothers and sisters participated in the Women’s Conference and Teej-Pora Tihaar organised at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium on the invitation given by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai as a brother. The stalls set up here were bustling. Women applied mehendi, wore colorful bangles, applied alta and dressed up and enjoyed the swing of Sawan.

Special cultural programs were also organised for the mothers. Pandavani singer Usha Barle won everyone’s heart with her performance. The entire auditorium was embelished with Chhattisgarhi traditional decorations.

Stalls of mehndi, bangles, alta and preparations for Teeja-Pora were displayed here, bringing the rural environment alive.

An exhibition of traditional Chinhaari jewellery of Chhattisgarh was also organised in the auditorium. Agricultural tools and musical instruments were also displayed along with traditional jewellery like Toda, Pairi Paijan, Laccha, Santi, Jhanjh, Bichhiya, Bichhua, Chutki, Aanti, Gol, Kangan or Kada, Tarkuuva, Kangan or Kada (braided like a braid), Pata, Kakni-Harrya, Tarki, Chumka, Dhaar, Khinwa, Lurki, Dhaturia, Phulli, Nath, Rupiyamala, Tilari, Katva, Suta, Kardhan, Bajuband, Khagga, Fundra and Jhabli.

Competitions like chair race, jalebi race, lemon race and tug of war were organised

Women’s conference and Teeja-Pora Tihaar started with the worship of Shiva-Parvati and Nandi as per rituals. After this, the participation of women in stage programs made the whole atmosphere festive.

Women participated enthusiastically in competitions like chair race, jalebi race, lemon race and tug of war. The whole atmosphere echoed with thunderous applause and enthusiasm. These games not only increased the thrill of the competition, but also brought alive the intimacy and sociability of the traditional festival.

Many women said that such events double the joy of the festival and also increase mutual harmony in the society. At the end of the competition, the winners were awarded and all the participants were appreciated.
