Empower Youth Through Skill Upgradation: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai instructed officials to empower youth by providing them with extensive skill upgradation training. Sai said that many new industries are going to be established in Chhattisgarh in the coming times, and these industries will provide employment to the youth.

Raipur: The Chief Minister held a review meeting of the Skill Development, Technical Education, Employment and Training Department at Mahanadi Bhawan Secretariat on Tuesday February 3, 2026 . The Chief Minister also instructed the department officials to organise job fairs in various districts of the state from time to time.

Minister of Skill Development, Technical Education, Employment and Training Department, Guru Khushwant Saheb, Chief Secretary Vikasheel, and many other senior officers were present in the meeting.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister specifically emphasised making the youth of the state job-ready and modernising technical institutions. He said that the modernisation of ITIs will provide youth with training tailored to the needs of industries and will increase employment opportunities in the state., he added.

He agreed to the proposal for the integration of CSSDA and the State Project Livelihood College Society and instructed for prompt action. He directed that the rational deployment of Assistant Directors and Assistant Project Officers in the districts be ensured. He also instructed for the effective implementation of the Aadhaar-based attendance system (AEBAS) in training centers and for strengthening the developed Trainee Feedback module for obtaining feedback from trained youth, the CM noted .

The officials informed the meeting that under the Chief Minister Skill Development Scheme, more than 4.90 lakh youth have been trained since 2013, out of which more than 2.71 lakh youth have been provided with employment. Currently, 356 training provider institutions (VTPs) and 207 registered courses are operational in the state.

Under the Prime Minister’s Setu Yojana, 6 clusters have been selected in the state on a hub-and-spoke model, through which an investment of approximately Rs. 60,000 crore is proposed for the upgradation and modernization of ITIs. In this scheme, the central government’s share has been fixed at approximately 50 percent, the state government’s share at 33 percent, and the industry’s share at a minimum of 17 percent.

Officials informed that under the PM Janman scheme for particularly vulnerable tribal groups, training is being provided to approximately 1,700 youths in 9 districts. Meanwhile, more than 600 youths in districts including Bijapur, Dantewada, Sukma, and Bastar have been provided with skill training for the rehabilitation of surrendered Naxalites.

A 31 percent increase has been recorded in engineering courses and a 36 percent increase in diploma courses in the 2025-26 academic session compared to the previous year. The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary, Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Rahul Bhagat, Departmental Secretary Dr. S. Bharathidasan, Industry Secretary Rajat Kumar, Labour Secretary Himshikhar Gupta, Director of Technical Education, Employment and Training Vijay Dayaram K., Vice-Chancellor of Swami Vivekananda Technical University Professor Arun Arora, and other officials.
