Chhattisgarh Naxal Encounter: An encounter took place between security forces and Naxalites in Bijapur. During the exchange of fire, Naxal commander Udham Singh, who carried a reward of 8 lakh rupees, was killed. An AK-47 rifle and ammunition were also recovered from the scene.
A fierce encounter is underway between security forces and Naxalites in the Peddagelur area of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh. Intermittent firing has been heard in the forests since morning. Security forces have surrounded the area and intensified search operations. It is reported that a large group of Naxalites was present in the area, and the operation was launched based on this intelligence.
Naxalite Commander with Rs 8 Lakh Reward Killed
The Naxalites have suffered a major blow in this encounter. It is reported that Naxalite commander Udham Singh, who carried a reward of Rs 8 lakh, has been killed. Udham Singh had been on the security forces’ radar for a long time and his name had surfaced in several major Naxalite incidents. Clues found at the scene indicate that the slain Naxalite is indeed Udham Singh.
Joint Operation by DRG and Cobra Commandos
The entire operation involves personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the CRPF’s Cobra Battalion. The troops strategically surrounded the area, giving the Naxalites no chance to retreat. The operation remains challenging due to the dense forest and hilly terrain, but the security forces are proceeding with utmost caution.
AK-47 and Weapons Recovered
An automatic AK-47 rifle and a large quantity of ammunition have reportedly been recovered from the encounter site. Some other Naxalite-related items have also been seized. This clearly indicates that the Naxalites were planning a major attack.
Search Operation Continues in the Area
Security forces suspect that some Naxalites may have escaped into the forest. Therefore, a search operation is continuously underway throughout the area. Officials say that complete information will be shared only after the operation is concluded. Currently, an alert has been issued in Peddagelur and the surrounding areas.
