Instructions given to complete approved development projects within the stipulated time frame.
Raipur: The first meeting of the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Area Development Authority, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, was held in the meeting hall of the Public Works Department at the district headquarters in Durg on Friday February 6, 2026 .
A detailed review was conducted of the major development projects approved under the Authority, the approval of ongoing projects funded by the Authority, the allocated budget, and newly sanctioned projects. Suggestions presented by public representatives were discussed in detail during the meeting. The main objective of the meeting was to assess the progress of schemes being implemented for the social, economic, and educational upliftment of the backward class community in the state and to determine future development strategies so that the benefits of development reach the actual beneficiaries effectively.
Chief Minister Sai, while reviewing the various construction works and welfare schemes being implemented under the Authority, gave clear instructions to ensure the timely and complete utilisation of the approved budget.
He said that the benefits of development projects should reach the common people directly, and continuous monitoring at all levels is necessary for this.
Chief Minister Sai directed all District Collectors to ensure the efficient implementation of all approved development projects, services, and programs within their respective districts. He specifically instructed that all approved construction works be completed immediately, prioritising the interests of the Other Backward Classes areas.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the district-wise construction and development works approved under the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Area Development Authority from the financial year 2020-21 to the financial year 2024-25.
During this review, he inquired about the progress status and gave necessary directions Besides the Chief Minister identified development projects that have not yet started or are still in progress and instructed that they be completed within a two-month timeframe.
He interacted directly with the District Collectors to obtain information on the current status of the projects and emphasised ensuring their timely completion.
It is noteworthy that the primary objective of the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Area Development Authority is to ensure the active participation of local elected representatives in the rural development process.
Under this authority, provisions have been made for formulating short-term plans in consultation with regional leaders, expanding basic amenities, and promptly approving small-scale construction projects in accordance with public expectations.
The Authority encompasses 35 assembly constituencies of the state. Special attention is being given to the development of basic civic amenities, promotion of social and cultural activities, and expansion of educational facilities and healthcare services in these areas. Emphasis is also being placed on the development of education and hostels, and the meeting also discussed improving the quality of education for students from Other Backward Classes.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Health Minister Shyambihari Jaiswal, Revenue Minister Tankram Verma, Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade, Scheduled Castes Development Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav, Member of Parliament Brijmohan Agrawal, Vice Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Area Development Authority Lalit Chandrakar, along with other MLAs and elected representatives, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Basavaraju S., secretaries of various government departments, IG, Commissioners, Collectors, and other senior officials.
