New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President C P Radhakrishnan today paid tribute to former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar on his birth anniversary on Thursday April 16, 2026 .
In a social media post, Prime Minister Modi said that this year marks the beginning of his 100th birth anniversary, and it is an occasion to reaffirm the nation’s commitment to realising his vision of a prosperous and just India. The Prime Minister said Chandra Sekhar remained a mass leader endowed with courage, conviction and a deep commitment to democratic values.
The Prime Minister said he remained firmly rooted in the soil of India and was sensitive to the aspirations of ordinary citizens, bringing simplicity and clarity to public life. Mr Modi also recalled his interactions with the late leader, during which they exchanged views on national development. He called upon the youth of the country to learn more about Chandra Shekhar’s thoughts and his contributions to India’s progress.
Meanwhile, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan paid floral tribute to the former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar in New Delhi.
