The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has replaced its state presidents in the national capital, Delhi, as well as in three other states. This includes the poll-bound state of Punjab.

New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated major organisational changes. The party has appointed new state presidents in four states, including the national capital, Delhi. Along with the Union Territory of Delhi, the party units in Punjab, Haryana, and the northeastern state of Tripura have now received new leadership. Harsh Malhotra has been entrusted with the command of the Delhi BJP.

Harsh Malhotra, who has been appointed as the Delhi BJP President, is the Member of Parliament (MP) from East Delhi. Malhotra is also a member of the Union Cabinet, holding the responsibility of Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport. He will succeed Virendra Sachdeva.

Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Punjab next year. With less than a year remaining until the Punjab polls, the party has appointed a new state president.

In the Punjab BJP, Kewal Singh Dhillon will now replace Sunil Jakhar as the new president. Kewal Singh Dhillon’s appointment to the post of Punjab BJP President is being viewed as a strategic “Sikh move” in this Sikh-majority state.

Kewal Singh Dhillon is a prominent Sikh figure who has also previously been associated with the Congress party. Following Sunil Jakhar, Kewal Singh Dhillon will now take charge of the BJP in the state.

In Tripura, the BJP has appointed Abhishek Debroy as the state president.
