Raipur: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chhattisgarh is now rapidly advancing towards carving out a new identity for itself on the country’s tourism map. Thanks to the granting of ‘industry status’ to tourism, investment-friendly policies, and the State Government’s unwavering resolve, the prospects for investment in the tourism and hospitality sectors within the state are continuously strengthening. In this context, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday May 28, 2026 participated in a high-level meeting held at his official residence-cum-office, focused on promoting tourism, developing and expanding tourist amenities, and attracting investment into the hospitality sector. The meeting was attended by senior government officials, alongside representatives from the nation’s renowned Indian Hotels Company Limited.

Speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai remarked that Chhattisgarh is an invaluable land of natural heritage stretching from north to south—a region where rivers, mountains, dense forests, waterfalls, and a rich tribal culture and traditions collectively bestow upon Chhattisgarh a distinct and unique identity, he added.

Chief Minister Sai stated that the State Government’s objective is to introduce the world to Chhattisgarh’s authentic beauty, cultural richness, and natural diversity. He noted that granting ‘industry status’ to tourism has significantly boosted investment prospects within the hospitality sector; furthermore, by developing superior accommodation, transportation, and modern amenities for visitors, Chhattisgarh can be transformed into a highly attractive tourism destination, CM Sai continued.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai further added that the state is consistently receiving investment proposals. In this regard, the Indian Hotels Company Limited has expressed its intent to invest in Chhattisgarh—a development that is poised to prove immensely significant for the state’s tourism sector. He stated that such investments would strengthen tourism infrastructure and create new opportunities for employment and self-employment for local youth, he noted.

During the meeting, representatives from the Indian Hotels Company Limited shared key highlights of their investment proposal with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. They informed him that the company is currently working on a plan to invest over ₹500 crore in Chhattisgarh’s hospitality sector—a plan that is set to be advanced shortly.

The company’s representatives emphasised that this investment would bolster the state’s tourism infrastructure and generate new employment opportunities.

Finance Minister O.P. Chaudhary remarked that the state government has fostered a conducive environment for investment and has streamlined the process for obtaining all necessary permits, making it both transparent and time-bound.

It was also highlighted during the meeting that, following the conferral of ‘industry status’ upon the tourism sector, avenues for investment within the hospitality sector have opened up significantly.

The state government is undertaking special initiatives to develop the tourism sector through modern infrastructure, world-class amenities, and investment-incentive policies. The state’s favorable monsoon conditions, abundant natural wealth, and investor-friendly policies are laying a strong foundation for tourism development.

Providing detailed information regarding the investment-incentive policy and available incentives, officials from the Department of Industries explained that any investor investing over ₹500 crore—or providing employment to more than 1,000 people—would be entitled to additional incentives and special benefits under the ‘Bespoke Policy.’ Furthermore, to boost tourism, special emphasis is being placed on strengthening basic infrastructure, road connectivity, accommodation facilities, and tourist services.

Attendees at the meeting included Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Chairperson Nilu Sharma, Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Finance Secretary Dr. Rohit Yadav, Investment Commissioner Ritu Sen, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rahul Bhagat, Industries Secretary Rajat Kumar, and Tourism Department Secretary Dr. S. Bharathidasan, among other senior officials.
