Raipur : In a significant employee welfare initiative, the Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday launched the Short-Term Salary Advance Scheme, enabling government employees to access quick financial assistance against their salaries through a fully digital platform. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai formally launched the scheme at Mahanadi Bhawan and described it as a major step towards employee welfare, good governance and a more responsive administration.

The Chief Minister also released the scheme’s brochure and said the initiative would provide government employees with dignified, transparent and hassle-free financial support during emergencies without forcing them to depend on private moneylenders or high-interest loans.
A Welfare Measure for the Backbone of Governance
Addressing the launch ceremony, Chief Minister Sai said government employees are the backbone of the state’s administrative machinery, and their financial well-being directly impacts public service delivery.
“When employees work free from financial stress, government schemes reach the last citizen more effectively. This scheme has been designed to provide timely financial assistance during emergencies while preserving the dignity of employees,” he said.

.Fully Digital Through e-Kosh
The Finance Department has integrated the scheme with the state’s e-Kosh platform, making the entire process paperless, secure and transparent.
Eligible employees can apply online through the Employee Corner of the e-Kosh portal. Once e-KYC, digital authentication and consent formalities are completed, loan approval and disbursement will be processed swiftly.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the digital integration would ensure faster service delivery without creating any additional financial burden on the state government.
No Need for High-Interest Borrowing
Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary said the scheme is another major reform under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership following the introduction of the cashless medical facility for government employees.
He said the new initiative would provide interest-free financial assistance for short-term emergencies, eliminating the need for employees to rely on expensive private borrowing.
The scheme has already received a strong response during its pilot phase.

Officials said the scheme has been developed in accordance with a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Finance Department, ensuring high standards of data security, privacy and digital authentication.

Officials believe the initiative will not only improve financial security for employees but also contribute to greater efficiency and morale within the state administration.
