Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Government has declared three local holidays in Raipur district on the occasions of Nuakhai, Maha Ashtami and Govardhan Puja, according to an order issued by the General Administration Department from the Mantralaya, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.
The holidays will apply to the concerned government offices and institutions situated within Raipur district, including those in the State capital.
Under the order, September 15, 2026 (Tuesday) has been declared a local holiday for Nuakhai, the traditional harvest festival celebrated with particular enthusiasm by communities in Chhattisgarh and neighbouring Odisha.
A second local holiday will be observed on October 19, 2026 (Monday) on the occasion of Maha Ashtami, one of the most significant days of the Navratri and Durga Puja celebrations.
The third holiday has been declared for November 9, 2026 (Monday) for Govardhan Puja, observed after Diwali and associated with the worship of Lord Krishna and Govardhan.
The General Administration Department has clarified that the three local holidays will be applicable to the concerned government offices and institutions falling within Raipur district.
