Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested 10 people after uncovering an alleged terror-financing network during an investigation in Shopian district, officials said on Friday, October 30, 2026. Police said an examination of suspicious online payments revealed financial links involving individuals allegedly connected with militants and their associates lodged in different jails.

The arrests followed an investigation into suspected financial channels supporting militant activities. Investigators examined transfers conducted through several digital payment platforms and followed the money through multiple layers of transactions.

Officials said the analysis uncovered a wider network allegedly involved in collecting and transferring funds, with suspected connections to jailed militants and their associates.

According to preliminary police findings, those arrested allegedly collected money from members of the public and channelled it through financial networks to support Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF).

Police said the money was allegedly used to provide financial and logistical assistance, including smartphones intended to facilitate militant activities. These remain allegations under investigation.

A case has been registered at Shopian police station under FIR No. 231/2026. Police described the suspected network as operating across the Union Territory.

The arrested individuals were identified by police as Owais Shafi Naikoo, Tajamul Ahmad Shah, Moiz Iqbal, Imdad Yousuf Ganie, Saqib Zahoor Wani, Aamir Ahmad Ganie, Firdous Thokar, Liyaqat Nazir Lone, Mohammad Hanief and Kaju.

Investigators are continuing to examine additional transactions, establish the extent of the alleged operation and identify other possible participants.
