AAP releases second list: Sisodia-Rakhi’s seats changed, no other MLA got ticket, outsiders again given preferences ..

AAP Second List: Aam Aadmi Party has released the second list for Delhi Assembly elections which has the names of 20 candidates. Like the first list, in the second list also the leaders who joined the party a few days ago have got tickets. Let’s know what is special in this list…

Aam Aadmi Party on Monday December 9 , 2024 released the second list of 20 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections. With this, the party has announced a total of 31 candidates for the 70-member assembly. The second list includes names like former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Assembly Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birlan, educationist-turned-politician Awadh Ojha. Like the first list, the second list also includes tickets to those who joined the party a few days ago.

Manish Sisodia, Rakhi Birlan’s seats changed
Out of the 20 seats on which the party has announced candidates, 18 seats were won by the party in 2020. Out of these 18, only two sitting MLAs have got tickets. The two sitting MLAs who have been given tickets include Manish Sisodia and Rakhi Birlan. However, the seats of both have been changed. Patparganj MLA Manish Sisodia has been given a ticket from Jangpura assembly seat this time. AAP’s Praveen Kumar won from here in 2020. Similarly, the party has made Rakhi Birlan, the party’s MLA from Mangolpuri, a candidate from Madipur this time. Aam Aadmi Party’s Girish Soni won from here in 2020.

Ticket given to Bittu, who joined AAP for the second time two days ago
The name of Aam Aadmi Party’s big leader and the party’s chief whip in Delhi Assembly Dilip Pandey is not in this list. The party has given ticket to Surendra Pal Singh Bittu from his seat. Bittu left BJP and joined Aam Aadmi Party for the second time on 6 December. Bittu, who won from Timarpur seat on Congress ticket in 2003 and 2008, was the Congress candidate from Timarpur in 2013 and 2015 assembly elections. Both times Bittu stood third. Bittu left Congress in November 2017 and joined Aam Aadmi Party. However, in 2019 he changed sides again and joined BJP. He contested the 2020 elections on BJP ticket, but lost to Dilip Pandey by 24,144 votes. Dilip Pandey recently tweeted and indicated not to contest the elections.

Former BJP MLA gets ticket for Assembly Speaker’s seat

The party has also announced a candidate from Shahdara, the seat of Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal. The party has given ticket to Jitendra Singh Shanti on this seat. Shanti joined Aam Aadmi Party just four days ago (on 5 December). Shanti, who was a BJP MLA from Shahdara in the 2013 assembly elections, is known as Ambulance Man. Shanti, who was awarded Padma Shri, lost to Ram Niwas Goyal in the 2015 assembly elections. Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal had recently announced his retirement from electoral politics.
Ticket given to Pravesh, who joined AAP a week ago, on Raj Kumar Anand’s seat

During the Lok Sabha elections, Dalit leader and Arvind Kejriwal government minister Rajkumar Anand left the party. Anand contested the Lok Sabha elections on a BSP ticket, but lost. Rajkumar Anand won from Patel Nagar seat in 2020 on an AAP ticket. AAP has given ticket to another turncoat on this seat. The party has made Pravesh Ratan its candidate from here. Pravesh Ratan left BJP and joined Aam Aadmi Party on 2 December. In the 2020 assembly elections, Pravesh Ratan was the BJP candidate from Patel Nagar seat. In this election, he was defeated by AAP’s Rajkumar Anand by 30,935 votes.

Candidates decided on all seats lost in 2020

In the 2020 assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party won 62 seats. At the same time, eight seats went to BJP’s account. AAP has decided candidates on all eight seats lost in 2020. In the first list, candidates were announced on six out of these eight seats. In the second list, candidates have also been announced on the remaining two seats, Rohini and Gandhi Nagar assembly seats. BJP’s Vijendra Gupta is the MLA from Rohini. The party has given ticket to Pradeep Mittal from here. Pradeep is AAP councilor from ward number 21.

Similarly, BJP’s Anil Kumar Bajpai won the Gandhi Nagar seat in 2020. He defeated AAP’s Naveen Chaudhary by 6,079 votes. The party has again given ticket to Naveen, who lost in 2020.

Rakhi Birlan won the election from Mangolpuri seat for the third consecutive time in 2020. This time her seat has been changed. From Mangolpuri seat, the party has given ticket to AAP councilor Rakesh Jatav Dharamrakshak from Ward 49A. At the same time, the party has given ticket to Awadh Ojha from Manish Sisodia’s current assembly seat Patparganj. Teacher turned politician Awadh Ojha joined the party on Monday December 2, 2024 .

11 candidates were announced in the first list
Earlier, on November 21, 2024 the Aam Aadmi Party released the first list of 11 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections. There were six names in this list who joined AAP from Congress or BJP within 25 days. In the first list, the party had also reposed faith in three candidates who lost in 2020.
