In Raipur district, CMR rice was being deposited at a slow pace by rice millers. The government expressed strong displeasure over this. Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh directed the Food Department to take action against the rice millers and the team reached the rice millers and investigated and seized paddy and rice while taking action.
Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh directed the FCI officials to provide stacks for depositing rice. Along with this, the government has also requested the railway officials to provide rakes soon, so that CMR rice can be deposited soon.
The railway had said that it would provide 26 rakes, out of which only 8 rakes have been made available. Currently, 2,66,000 metric tonnes of rice is yet to be deposited in Raipur district. When the rice millers of the district violated the clauses of Chhattisgarh Custom Milling Rice Procurement Order 2016 and were not interested in depositing the rice of the government, 3800 quintals of paddy and 7750 quintals of rice were seized by inspecting the rice mill firm Nirmala Rice Pvt. Ltd. of Abhanpur development block. 3600 quintals of paddy were seized by inspecting Kamal Rice Mill located in Umaria of Mandir Hasaud. Similarly, 12570.40 quintals of paddy and 350 quintals of rice were seized by inspecting Kanha Rice Mill of village Jaroda located in development block Arang. Assistant Food Officer Pavitra Ahirwar, Bharti Harsh and Food Inspector Shraddha Chauhan were involved in this action.
