Air India has confirmed that flight number AI171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed after takeoff today. The flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 pm, had 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Of these, 169 are Indian citizens, 53 are British citizens, 1 is a Canadian citizen and 7 are Portuguese citizens. The injured are being taken to nearby hospitals.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Air India’s B787 aircraft VT-ANB, flight number AI-171 crashed soon after taking off from Ahmedabad.
