Insurance cover up to Rs 1.60 crore without premium

Raipur: In a major step towards providing social and economic security to regular state government employees, the Chhattisgarh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India (SBI) for the State Government Salary Package. Under the MoU, employees maintaining salary accounts with SBI will receive insurance cover worth crores of rupees completely free of cost.

As per the MoU, employees will be provided with a personal accident insurance cover of Rs 1 crore, air accident insurance cover of Rs 1.60 crore, permanent total disability insurance of Rs 1 crore, partial disability insurance of Rs 80 lakh, and group life insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh. Notably, employees will not be required to pay any additional premium for any of these insurance benefits. In addition, an extra benefit of Rs 10 lakh will be available under the Rs 1 crore insurance cover on SBI RuPay cards. Facilities such as health insurance top-up will also be made available at concessional rates.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the state government is continuously taking concrete decisions to ensure the safety and welfare of its employees. This MoU with SBI will prove to be a strong protective shield for employees and their families.

Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary said the agreement is an important initiative towards protecting employees from financial risks. Providing such comprehensive insurance facilities without any additional cost reflects the state government’s employee-friendly policy.

The MoU was signed on Monday December 22, 2025, in the presence of the Finance Secretary, Government of Chhattisgarh. With this agreement, regular state employees will not only get improved banking facilities but will also be assured of significant financial relief for themselves and their families in case of accidents or unforeseen situations.
