Amit Shah said that BSF is acting as India’s first line of defence and is standing with unwavering dedication in deserts, mountains, forests and rugged terrains

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday (May 30, 2025) lauded the Border Security Force (BSF) for giving a befitting reply to Pakistani aggression in Poonch and said that more than 118 enemy posts were destroyed and damaged in the retaliatory action along the Jammu border.

During his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after Operation Sindoor, Shah said that the Border Security Force has demolished the enemy’s surveillance network, which is a big blow and it will take them years to compensate for it.

‘BSF destroyed more than 118 posts’

The Union Home Minister lauded the BSF jawans at the conclusion of his two-day visit to Jammu to review the security situation, Amarnath Yatra preparations and interact with victims of Pakistani shelling. He said, “When Pakistan responded to our counter-terror operations by attacking our borders and civilian areas, it was the jawans of the BSF’s Jammu Frontier who retaliated by destroying and damaging more than 118 posts.”

Amit Shah said the BSF destroyed the entire enemy surveillance system by tearing it into pieces, a system that would take them four to five years to rebuild. “This proves that even in peacetime you kept a vigilant eye. Based on your accurate intelligence, a precise counter strategy was already prepared. When the opportunity came, you successfully implemented it,” he said.

‘BSF is India’s first line of defence’

He emphasised that the BSF is acting as India’s first line of defence and is ready with unwavering dedication in deserts, mountains, forests and rugged terrains. Amit Shah said, “Whenever there is any kind of attack on India’s borders, organised or unorganised, covert or overt, our BSF jawans are the first to bear the brunt, but they never stop to think where the border is.”

‘I was told that the weather is not good’

Regarding his visit to Poonch despite bad weather, Shah said that he was determined to meet the soldiers in person. He said, “I have come to visit the gurdwaras, temples, mosques and share the grief of the damage caused to the civilian population in Poonch.” He said, “I was told that the weather is not good. Still I decided that I will go by road and return only after meeting the soldiers deployed on the border. By the grace of God the weather cleared and I got a chance to meet you.”
