MP Brijmohan Agarwal not happy with the lack of health services at Raipur AIIMS, raised question in Parliament
Raipur/Delhi. CG: Raipur Lok Sabha MP Brijmohan Agarwal has expressed deep displeasure over the lack of health facilities in AIIMS Raipur, referral of patients and indifference of the hospital administration. MP Brijmohan Agarwal has also raised questions in the Lok Sabha regarding the availability of beds in AIIMS Raipur, referral of patients, increase in resources and accountability of officials.
1098 beds available in AIIMS Raipur
On the question of MP Agarwal, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav said that 1098 beds are available in 33 departments in AIIMS Raipur. Here, in just 6 months from May 2024 to September 2024, 2546 patients were referred to other hospitals. However, referral of patients is done giving priority to standard medical protocols and their safety.
Question raised on the arbitrariness of AIIMS management
The minister said that, under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), the establishment of a 150-bed critical care hospital block has been approved. MP Agarwal also raised questions on the hospital administration and said that “despite the availability of beds in AIIMS Raipur, patients are refused admission, there are constant complaints of rude behavior of AIIMS staff with patients and their relatives. Even the patients admitted in the emergency ward are forcibly discharged after four hours.”
‘Director’s attitude is irresponsible’
Brijmohan Agarwal said that he had earlier written a letter to the AIIMS hospital management in this regard, but appropriate action was not taken. He also questioned the working style of AIIMS Director Ashok Jindal and said that “Whenever I tried to contact AIIMS Raipur myself or from my office, the director did not give any answer. This attitude is completely irresponsible.” He said, “We will not let the citizens of the state be deprived of their rights. Every necessary step will be taken to improve health services at AIIMS Raipur and those guilty of negligence in work will not be spared.
