In Chhattisgarh, security forces are continuously conducting operations against Naxalites. In this episode, security forces have achieved a historic feat in the encounter in the border areas of Narayanpur, Bijapur, Dantewada. So far, a total of 27 bodies of Naxalites and a large quantity of weapons have been recovered during this operation. It is estimated that many Maoists have been seriously injured during the operation. During the encounter, a DRG jawan was martyred while bravely fighting the Naxalite attack. Some other jawans have been injured during this operation in the encounter. All the injured are out of danger. The search operation is continuing. On this success of the security forces, PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have praised the valor of the soldiers.
Nambala Keshav Rao, alias Basavaraju was buried in the dust-Photo-PTI
Security forces on Wednesday May 21, 2025 attacked Naxalites in Narayanpur and Bijapur areas. Basavaraju is reported to have been killed in this action against Naxalites. According to the information, Basavaraju , the general secretary of the Naxal organisation, has also been killed. Basavaraju has been a notorious Naxalite and there is a reward of Rs 1.5 crore on his head.
Know who was Nambala Keshav Rao, alias Basavaraju Basavaraju
According to the information, Basavaraju was given the command of the Naxal organisation in 2018. Basava Raju’s real name is Nambala Keshav Rao. He is also known as Gaganna, Prakash and BR. His father’s name is Vasudev Rao and he is quite old. His age is said to be around 75 years. He had studied B.Tech. He was a resident of Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh. Basavaraju was a dreaded Naxalite. He was a senior cadre of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and was the chief of the South Bastar Divisional Committee. Raju was active on the borders of Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Historic achievement in the fight to eliminate Naxalism – Amit Shah
Home Minister Amit Shah said that a historic achievement has been achieved in the fight to eliminate Naxalism. In an operation in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, our security forces have killed 27 dreaded Maoists, including CPI-Maoist General Secretary, top leader and the backbone of the Naxal movement, Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju. This is the first time in the three decades of India’s fight against Naxalism that a general secretary level leader has been killed by our forces. I commend our brave security forces and agencies for this major success. It is also a pleasure to inform that after the completion of Operation Black Forest, 54 Naxalites have been arrested in Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Maharashtra and 84 Naxalites have surrendered. The Modi government is determined to eliminate Naxalism before March 31, 2026.
The victory cry continues, Naxalism is ending – CM Sai
Regarding the Naxalite encounter, CM Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and strengthening the resolve of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to end Naxalism in the country and state by March 2026, the security forces are continuously achieving success and moving rapidly towards the target. Despite difficult geographical conditions and many challenges, this decisive campaign against left wing extremism is being completed with full commitment and determination by the DRG unit of Chhattisgarh Police in Narayanpur. As a result, 27 Naxalites have been killed so far, including the elimination of notorious Naxal leaders Nambala Keshav Rao and Alias Basavaraju has also been confirmed.
CM Sai further said that this success achieved by the soldiers is commendable, I salute their bravery. During the operation, sad news has been received about a DRG soldier being martyred and some soldiers being injured. Instructions have been given for immediate treatment of the injured soldiers. I pray to God for the peace of the soul of the martyred soldier and the speedy recovery of the injured soldiers.
