Raipur: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chhattisgarh has achieved another important milestone. In the financial year 2024-25, the state has recorded the highest annual growth rate of 18 percent in the country by collecting a total GST revenue of ₹ 16,390 crore. This achievement puts Chhattisgarh in the first place in the whole country in terms of GST revenue growth. In this sequence, Maharashtra stood second and Tamil Nadu third with a growth rate of 16% and 15% respectively.

Monthly collection of more than ₹ 2000 crore for the first time in March 2025

In March 2025, Chhattisgarh received ₹ 1,301.09 crore under SGST head, which is 72 percent more than March 2024. This is the first time that the state has crossed the ₹1000 crore mark in SGST collection. In March 2025 itself, ₹756.73 crore was received under IGST, which is 10 percent more than last year. Thus, the total GST collection in March 2025 was ₹2,057.82 crore, which shows an impressive monthly growth of 43 percent compared to ₹1,443.66 crore in March 2024. After the advent of GST, Chhattisgarh has crossed the figure of Rs 2000 crore in total GST revenue in a month for the first time.

Historic success achieved due to better administration, inclusion of technology and continuous monitoring

This remarkable progress is a direct result of the comprehensive reforms, innovation and new work culture done in the Commercial Tax Department in the state under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and the guidelines of Finance Minister Shri OP Choudhary. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Commercial Tax Minister . Under the guidance of O P. Chaudhary, the department has taken decisive steps to make GST administration more active, transparent and result-oriented.

Control over non-filers

There has been a major improvement in the compliance rate through continuous monitoring and communication with traders who do not file returns. The number of non-filers has come down from 15 percent to just 6 percent.

Investigation of fake registrations

Physical verification of more than 28,000 businesses was done, out of which 4, 252 firms, which is about 15% of the total firms, were found to be fake. This effectively curbed tax evasion and increased tax compliance.

Data analytics based action

On the basis of data analytics, ₹45.13 crore was recovered by checking the accounting books in 313 cases during the year.

At the same time, an additional amount of ₹47.35 crore was recovered from the search/inspection of 77 establishments.

Sector Analysis and Inter-Departmental Coordination

Using sector-based analysis and inter-departmental data, the GST department identified 49 potential tax evasion areas, generating revenue of ₹101 crore.

Improved Compliance from Government Departments

Under special efforts made in March 2025, additional revenue of ₹37 crore was collected from suppliers of government departments by getting them to file GSTR-7 returns.

Comprehensive Vyapari Sampark Abhiyan

36,847 traders across the state were contacted, who had either filed zero returns or showed negative growth in business, thereby ensuring increased tax compliance. The direct result of all these concrete and technology-based measures is that Chhattisgarh is today at the top in GST growth in the country.

Digital and AI-based strategy prepared for the future

The GST department, under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Finance MinisterOP Choudhary, is now committed to keep Chhattisgarh at the forefront in the country in the coming years by implementing digital tracking, artificial intelligence-based monitoring system and advanced compliance mechanism.
