Chhattisgarh gets national honor for excellent implementation of TB free Gram Panchayat program

Raipur: Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state of Chhattisgarh is moving forward with effective and well-planned efforts towards the elimination of a serious disease like Tuberculosis (TB) . Keeping in mind the goal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to eradicate TB from India by the year 2025, a comprehensive action plan is being prepared and implemented in Chhattisgarh as well.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, “Nikshay-Niramaya Chhattisgarh – 100 Days Campaign” was launched on December 7, 2024.

The objective of this campaign was to begin a continuous decisive battle against TB at the grassroots level and to identify high-risk individuals by going door-to-door in all the districts of the state and tested through modern techniques.

Under this campaign, more than 36 lakh people were screened, more than 4.5 lakh X-ray tests were done and more than 1.5 lakh people were tested with the state-of-the-art ‘Notch Machine’. This comprehensive testing process proved to be extremely effective for early identification and quick treatment of TB.

Public participation also played a significant role in the success of this campaign. The Governor, Chief Minister and Health Minister themselves took the initiative to provide nutritional food as ‘Nikshay Mitras’ by adopting TB patients. So far, more than 15,000 new Nikshay Mitras have registered and provided nutritional assistance to more than 34,000 patients. MPs, MLAs, public representatives, women, youth, voluntary organisations and common citizens of the state have actively participated in this campaign.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Sai, special attention has been paid to those sections of the society which are generally deprived of health services – such as prisoners in jails, elderly in old age homes, students living in hostels and workers in factories. Special camps were organised for them to ensure testing and treatment.

As a result of these dedicated efforts and collective participation, the state of Chhattisgarh has been honored at the national level for the excellent implementation of the TB Free Gram Panchayat program.

So far, 4106 Gram Panchayats of the state have been declared “TB Free” – which is a remarkable achievement.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that when the commitment of the government and public cooperation come together, then change does not just become a goal, it becomes an achievement – and Chhattisgarh is going to become a living example of this

Our aim is not only eliminate TB but Eradicate it from the State .
