Chhattisgarh Rural Employment Guarantee Council meeting -CM Vishnu Deo Sai with his Deputies -Photo -Arrangements
Raipur: The meeting of Chhattisgarh Rural Employment Guarantee Council was held on Thursday February 27, 2025 in the Chief Minister’s office located in the Vidhan Sabha premises under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vishnu DeO Sai. In the meeting, the ongoing projects under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) were reviewed. The Chief Minister directed the officials to complete the MNREGA works in the state with the highest quality and within the stipulated time frame, so that maximum rural families can get the benefit of the scheme.
Chief Minister Sai especially directed to give priority to the construction of Dharsa access roads and Amrit Sarovar projects in the villages, which will strengthen the rural infrastructure and promote water conservation.
Chief Minister Sai said in the meeting that the goal of the Chhattisgarh government is not only to provide employment but also to make the rural areas self-reliant. The ongoing schemes under MNREGA are being implemented with a long-term perspective, so that all-round development can be ensured in rural areas. He directed the officials to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of the schemes, so that this scheme becomes a strong base in the empowerment of the poor. He said that the state government is emphasising on accelerating the pace of rural development by linking MNREGA with other scheme, CM added.
Detailed discussion on effective implementation of MNREGA in the state
In the meeting, an in-depth review was done on the progress of financial year 2023-24 and 2024-25, Labor Budget 2025-26, key indicators of the scheme and convergence model. Annual progress report from the year 2019-20 to 2023-24 was also presented.
MNREGA Commissioner Rajat Bansal informed that out of a total of 38.52 lakh registered families in the state, 24.89 lakh families have been provided employment. Under the Amrit Sarovar Yojana, a target has been set to construct 2,902 reservoirs, out of which 1,095 have been approved, 299 have been completed, and work is in progress on 472 Projects .
Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Saw and Vijay Sharma, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Singh, Principal Secretary Niharika Barik, Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Basavaraju S, P. Dayanand, Rahul Bhagat, MNREGA Commissioner Rajat Bansal and members of Chhattisgarh Rural Employment Guarantee Council were present in the meeting.
