Raipur: Chhattisgarh has achieved a significant national milestone in the field of women’s health, nutrition and empowerment by securing the first position among large states in the February 2026 national ranking under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).

According to the latest state-wise ranking, Chhattisgarh recorded 93.37 percent enrolment, an approval rate of 83.87 percent, and 93.95 percent timely grievance redressal, reflecting the state’s efficient implementation of the scheme.

The proportion of cases pending for more than 30 days remained limited to 7.07 percent, while the pending grievance rate stood at only 4.96 percent, indicating effective monitoring and transparent service delivery. Notably, the state improved its position by six ranks compared to the previous month, emerging as the top-performing state in the country.

Congratulating officials, employees, Anganwadi workers and field-level staff of the Women and Child Development Department, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the state government places the highest priority on maternal and child health, CM Sai added.

He noted that the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, which provides financial assistance to pregnant women, plays an important role in promoting safe motherhood. Chhattisgarh’s top national ranking, he said, reflects the state’s sustained commitment to strengthening maternal welfare programmes, CM Sai noted

Minister for Women and Child Development Lakshmi Rajwade described the achievement as a proud moment for the state and congratulated the department’s team for their dedicated efforts. She said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chhattisgarh has steadily emerged among the leading states in the country in the effective implementation of women welfare programmes. She attributed the success to the coordinated efforts, commitment and timely work of departmental officials, staff and Anganwadi workers, Lakshmi Rajwade added.

Expressing confidence in the department’s continued performance, Rajwade said efforts will be made not only to maintain the top position but also to ensure that every eligible pregnant woman in the state receives the benefits of the scheme in a timely manner, She noted.

She further informed that during the financial year 2025–26, a total of 1,86,586 pregnant women have registered under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana in Chhattisgarh so far. An amount of ₹72,24,89,000 has been directly transferred to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries, Minister for Women and Child Development affirmed.

The effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana has strengthened maternal and child healthcare services in the state, with Chhattisgarh increasingly emerging as a model for other states across the country.
