New Delhi : Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has challenged PM Narendra Modi to a face-to-face debate. Addressing an election rally in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, Kharge said that he challenges BJP and Congress to debate on their guarantees, he urged Modi to come to Bengaluru and see that the guarantees have been fulfilled. PM Modi has targeted Congress by referring to Kharge’s statement, “Jitna budget utni guaranty”.
Mallikarjun Kharge said, “They don’t have any original scheme. In Karnataka, we brought Bhagyalakshmi Yojana and gave Rs 2000 to women. Modi ji is copying it everywhere.” Kharge said that the Congress government implemented a financial assistance scheme for women for the first time, which has been copied by the BJP governments.
The Congress president replied, “If he does not trust our guarantee, I challenge him to come to Bangalore and I will tell you how many of the 5 guarantees we had given were implemented, how many were delivered to how many people, how much was spent.” I will present the full details of the account that I have presented before you there. The debate will be on a table where he is on one side and I am on the other, or else he is on one side and I am on the other. I will debate whose government has done good work or whose government has given the guarantee.
Also, Kharge attacked PM Modi in a poetic style and said, “The stature of your promises is also like you, try measuring them and it comes out to be less.” Replying to PM Modi’s allegations about Bangladeshi infiltration in Jharkhand, Kharge said that if this is happening, is he sleeping on the throne? If he fails to stop infiltration, he said that he should leave the throne, Congress will show us how to run.
