New Delhi: The Delhi High Court rejects All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora’s petition challenging a police notice requiring her to execute a peace bond before a special executive magistrate (SEM) on Friday, October 23, 2026. Justice Subramonium Prasad, however, issues directions to ensure that the student leader receives all material relating to the proceedings.
Court Declines Intervention at This Stage
“I am rejecting the writ petition at this juncture,” Justice Prasad said while pronouncing the judgment.
The judge added that directions had been issued to the SEM concerning the provision of material to Bora. The notice challenged by her sought a ₹10,000 bond with a surety to maintain peace during the inquiry.
Notice Follows October 16 Protest
The proceedings followed Bora’s participation in a protest at Mandi House on October 16 demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
Her lawyers argued that the gathering was peaceful and that she had not called for violence. The police side submitted that prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita were in force in the area.
Bora sought cancellation of the notice and protection against coercive action. The court declined to grant the requested relief at this stage while issuing procedural directions to the SEM.
