Thousands of police personnel deployed, sensitive zones sealed, Metro and hospitals on standby as authorities prepare for large-scale demonstration
New Delhi: The national capital has been placed under an unprecedented security blanket ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) proposed march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament. Anticipating a large turnout and possible law-and-order challenges, Delhi Police has implemented one of its most extensive security operations in recent months.

More than 5,000 personnel from the Delhi Police, supported by 25 battalions of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), have been deployed across central Delhi. Senior officers, including Special Commissioners, Joint Commissioners, and Deputy Commissioners of Police, are personally supervising the operation from strategic locations.
New Delhi Divided into Security Zones
To streamline crowd management and emergency response, the New Delhi district has been divided into 15 operational security zones. Surveillance teams, intelligence units, and the Special Branch are continuously monitoring developments around Jantar Mantar and adjoining areas, with real-time inputs being shared with senior command officials.
Police officials have instructed field personnel to remain vigilant against any attempt to exploit the protest for violence, vandalism, or public disorder.
High-Security Areas Under Tight Restrictions
Authorities have imposed stringent security measures around several key government installations and VVIP locations. Access has been heavily regulated in areas surrounding:
- Parliament Street and Vijay Chowk
- India Gate precinct
- Prime Minister’s residence
- Home Minister’s residence
- Rashtrapati Bhavan and adjoining government complexes
- Other strategically sensitive public locations
Several of these stretches have effectively become restricted access zones, with only authorised movement permitted.
Barricades, Water Cannons and Riot Control Units Ready
Delhi Police has stationed water cannons, Vajra anti-riot vehicles, rapid response teams, and reinforced barricades at multiple entry points leading into central Delhi. Security personnel are conducting intensive vehicle inspections and identity verification on major routes.
Metro stations in and around the protest route are also under enhanced surveillance. Depending on the evolving situation, authorities may temporarily regulate entry or exit at selected stations to maintain public safety.
Hospitals Kept on Alert
Hospitals located near the demonstration route have been advised to remain prepared for any medical emergency. Emergency response teams and ambulance services have also been placed on standby as a precautionary measure.
Security has additionally been strengthened around the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg, with police maintaining close watch over all potential flashpoints.
Dynamic Security Strategy
Officials indicated that the deployment plan will remain flexible throughout the day. Security arrangements may be expanded or modified depending on crowd size, traffic conditions, and any unforeseen developments during the march.
Authorities have appealed to commuters to follow traffic advisories, avoid unnecessary travel through central Delhi, and cooperate with security personnel to ensure public safety.
