Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has decided to relax age and educational criteria in government jobs for 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims, due to which 88 applicants are expected to get appointment on MTS post. This demand was being made for the families of riot victims for a long time
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has taken a major step to provide employment opportunities to the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He has approved full relaxation in educational qualification and age for applicants up to the age of 55 years for the posts of Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) in government service. This decision is expected to benefit 88 applicants, who were not able to meet these criteria earlier.
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee For years, various public representatives and victim groups had demanded relaxation in employment norms from the government. They felt that this relaxation was necessary due to the challenges faced by the riot victims and their families.
50 applicants will get relief
This initiative started with the rehabilitation package approved by the Home Ministry of the Government of India on 16 January 2006, which included job opportunities for riot victims. During a special campaign, the Revenue Department initially received 72 applications, out of which 22 applicants were given appointments after getting age relaxation. In October 2024, VK Saxena gave complete relaxation in educational qualification for these remaining 50 applicants who were found eligible through this drive.
