Diwali 2024: Spiritual Scholars from across the country have decided the date of Diwali, the festival will be celebrated on October 31

Diwali 2024: There was a lot of confusion among the people about when Diwali will be celebrated this year. A lot of controversies also arose regarding this, which has now been resolved by Spiritual scholars from all over the country. On Tuesday October 15 , scholars from all over the country organised a Dharmasabha in the auditorium of the Central Sanskrit University in Jaipur, in which it was decided unanimously that this year Diwali will be celebrated on October 31. After the Dharmasabha, the Spiritual scholars have issued a press note informing about this decision.

Let us inform you that in the Bhojraj Panchang of the Bhopal centre of the same university where this religious gathering was held, the date of Diwali has been fixed as November 1, due to which confusion started regarding the date of celebrating Diwali across the country.

Religious gathering of scholars on Deepawali decision held in Jaipur

Dharam Sabha gave these arguments for October 31:

On October 31, there is Amavasya for the entire night. It is necessary to get the date in Karmakaal (Punya Kaal), which is on October 31.

On November 1, Karma Kaal or Pradosh Vyapini Amavasya is not available. The full benefits of Lakshmi Pujan will not be achieved on this day.

The Panchangs that follow NASA’s calculations have confused.

According to Dharam Sabha, on October 31, on the day of Amavasya, there will be Pradosh Kaal (2 hours 24 minutes after sunset), which is according to the scriptures for celebrating Deepawali in the whole country. In some other countries, such as Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore, Amavasya will come in Pradosh Kaal on November 1, while in India and most of the western countries, Deepawali will be celebrated on October 31.

The president of this Dharma Sabha, Prof. Rampal Shastri, said that those who were in dispute on this subject have now agreed that Deepawali will be on October 31. About 100 prominent astrologers, religious scholars and Sanskrit scholars attended the Dharma Sabha.

Former Vice Chancellor of Somnath Sanskrit University, Prof. Arknath Chaudhary said that the date of the festival is determined on the basis of Surya Siddhanta and this time there was no confusion about Deepawali. He said that the confusion was created by some Panchangs, which follow the calculations of NASA.
