Education and association play a vital role in building a strong society: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday February 22, 2026 attended the two-day 80th General Convention of the Chhattisgarh Manava Kurmi Kshatriya Samaj held in Champa village of Baloda Bazar district.

At the beginning of the program, he paid tribute to freedom fighter and social reformer Dr. Khubchand Baghel by observing a two-minute silence on his death anniversary and paid homage to the community’s eminent personalities by offering floral tributes. On this occasion, the Chief Minister was warmly welcomed with a garland of elephants.

Chief Minister Sai described the Manava Kurmi Samaj as a hardworking, organised, and advanced farming community, emphasising its significant contribution to the state’s progress. Congratulating the 80th General Convention, he said that such events promote harmony, coordination, and positive decisions within the community, which benefits the entire state and the country. He said that he was fortunate to attend the program organised in Champa, the home village of Revenue and Higher Education Minister Tankaram Verma, the CM noted .

Chief Minister Sai stated that education is the strongest foundation for building a strong society. He commended society’s efforts to educate both sons and daughters, stating that only an educated society becomes a self-reliant and progressive society. He also praised the efforts to promote women’s self-employment, create awareness among youth about drug addiction, and social reform.

Chief Minister Sai stated that the state government has worked with full commitment to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantees. He stated that 18 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna have been completed in the state.

This year, more than 141 lakh metric tons of paddy has been purchased from 25.24 lakh farmers at the support price, and the difference amount of approximately 10 thousand crore rupees will be provided to the farmers before Holi. Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, more than 15 thousand crore rupees have been disbursed to 70 lakh women so far.

Chief Minister Sai stated that a new picture of development is now visible in the Bastar region. He stated that, in accordance with the resolve of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister, the government is working resolutely towards completely eliminating Naxalism by March 2026.

Development work has been accelerated in approximately 400 villages through the Niyyad Nellar Scheme, he added.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced a grant of ₹50 lakh for the construction of a community hall in Nardaha village and ₹25 lakh for a community hall in Baloda Bazar.

Addressing the program, Revenue Minister Tankaram Verma stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state has witnessed significant development in the last two years, and numerous public welfare schemes for farmers, women, and youth have been effectively implemented.

At the convention, the community’s central president, Khodas Ram Verma, informed about the important social reform decisions taken by the community.

A large number of community officials, women, youth, and members, including Rajim MLA Rohit Sahu, were present at the event.
