Female Naxalite involved in Jheeram Ghati massacre with a reward of Rs 20 lakh surrenders

Raipur: Naxalite Manjula alias Nirmala, who was involved in the famous Jheeram Ghati massacre of Chhattisgarh and had a reward of Rs 20 lakh on her head, has surrendered before the police in Warangal, Telangana. Manjula surrendered by going to the Police Commissioner in Warangal.

She is the sister of notorious Naxalite leaders Kodi Kumar Swamy alias Anand and Kodi Venkanna alias Gopanna, and is also a member of the Dandakarana Special Zonal Committee, South Sub Division Bureau. Manjula joined the Maoist organization in 1994 and surrendered on Friday November 15 , 2024.

This incident of Jheeram Ghati tool place on May 25 , 2013 , which is considered to be the biggest political massacre of Chhattisgarh. In this attack, 30 Congress leaders and workers including senior Congress leaders Nandkumar Patel, Vidyacharan Shukla, Mahendra Karma, Uday Mudliyar were brutally murdered. After this incident, efforts to investigate continued during the rule of both BJP and Congress, but till now the criminals and reasons behind it have not been fully revealed.

In the investigation of this massacre, various departments took different initiatives to identify the security lapse and the criminals, but no concrete result came out. The central government handed over the investigation of this case to the NIA on May 27 , 2013, but even after 11 years, this case remains unsolved.
