The purchase and sale of beef has been banned in hotels, restaurants and public places in Assam. Politics has also started after this decision. Congress MP from Assam Rakibul Hussain had accused the BJP that the party had organised a beef party to woo Muslim voters in Samguri assembly constituency of Nagaon district. Countering this, a few days ago, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that if the Assam Congress President writes a letter to him demanding a beef ban, he is ready to implement it.
