Governor Deka today attends the third convocation of Rawatpura Sarkar University Raipur.

Raipur: Only through innovation, research and development can we bring positive change in society and solve many problems including poverty, disease, unemployment. These sentiments were expressed by Governor Ramen Deka today at the convocation of Rawatpura Sarkar University.

Governor Deka attended the third convocation of Rawatpura Sarkar University, Raipur today on Saturday September 21 . In this programme 1440 students were awarded degrees, diplomas and Chancellor’s Gold Medal was awarded to more than 20 students who secured first position in various faculties.

Along with this, famous folk singer Padmashree Prahlad Singh Tipaniya and famous comedy poet Surendra Dubey were awarded the honorary degree of D.Litt.

In his presidential address at the convocation, the Governor said that today is an important day for the students. They have reached this position today due to the hard work of parents, teachers, institutions and themselves. Today our youth are also participating in taking our economy to 5 trillion. Governor Deka said that time is very important, use it well and enjoy it. Dream and work hard to make it come true. Deka said that today India has emerged as the fastest growing economy in the world and there has been a significant change in the image of India. This change in perception is happening at a time when India has emerged as the youngest nation in the world. Being the youth of this country, you are going to be the drivers of our economy and development.

Deka said that India’s contribution in the field of innovation has been remarkable. Indian mathematician Bhaskaracharya is considered the greatest mathematician of medieval India. He was the first to correctly calculate the time taken by the Earth to revolve around the Sun.

Indians gave the concept of zero to the world. We gave yoga to the world, we gave Ayurveda to the world. One of the greatest scientists, philosopher and mathematician Albert Einstein said, “We are very grateful to the Indians who taught us to count, without which no meaningful scientific discovery could have been made”.

Deka said that in this era of globalization, the youth should think about start-ups. He urged the students to become entrepreneurs and create employment.

Deka asked the students to revive the past glory of this country through their character, innovation and service to the society and pledge to make full use of their knowledge for the benefit of society and humanity. At the beginning of the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor S.K. Singh gave the welcome address and presented the annual report of the University. Chancellor Shri Ravi Shankar Ji Maharaj and Chancellor of TISS Mumbai, Professor D.P. Singh also gave their speeches. Vice Chancellor Shri Harsh Gautam administered the oath to the students.

On this occasion, members of the University autonomous body, members of the Board of Management, Heads of Departments, Faculty Heads, teachers, parents of the students receiving degrees were present.
