Hamas in Gaza has released three Israeli hostages in exchange for the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners. Hamas has confirmed that it has handed over three female hostages to the Israeli Red Cross in western Gaza city. After the release of the hostages, US President Joe Biden said that after so much pain and destruction, today the guns have fallen silent in Gaza.
Three Israeli hostages – Romi Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher – have been released by Hamas after a ceasefire came into effect for the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip. Hamas has handed over these three hostages to the Israeli organization Red Cross. This has also been confirmed by Hamas. In a statement after the release of the hostages, US President Joe Biden said, “The guns have fallen silent in Gaza today.”
In the pictures, Israeli hostages Romi Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher can be seen walking without any help. It has also been confirmed by Hamas that officially the three female hostages were handed over to the Red Cross at Al-Saraya Square in western Gaza City. After the release of the Israeli hostage, US President Joe Biden said in a statement, “The Gaza ceasefire agreement has been successful. Hundreds of aid trucks are entering Gaza. After so much pain and destruction, today the guns have fallen silent in Gaza. We have arrived here without a major war in the Middle East, which many had predicted. Now the responsibility of implementing the Gaza agreement rests on the Trump administration. There is no concern about Hamas regrouping.
90 Palestinians to be released in exchange for three hostages
In exchange for this release, it is planned to release 90 Palestinian prisoners. These prisoners include 69 women. The youngest prisoner is Mahmoud Aliwat, just 15 years old. Those to be released also include Khalida Jarrar, a 62-year-old prominent member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), who has been repeatedly arrested as part of Israel’s crackdown on non-violent political protest.
These names are also included in those released from Israeli jail
Dalal Khasib, the sister of former Hamas leader Saleh Arori, will also be released. Her brother was killed in an Israeli attack in southern Beirut in January 2024. 68-year-old Abla Abdulrasul, who is the wife of PFLP leader Ahmed Sadat, who is serving a 30-year sentence for ordering the killing of Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze’ev in 2001, is to be released
