Bilaspur: High Court Justice Gautam Bhaduri retired on Friday November 8 , 2025 . In his 11-year tenure, he resolved a total of 35,747 cases, out of which 540 became precedents. In the farewell ceremony held in the Chief Justice’s court room, Justice Bhaduri said that this was possible due to the blessings of God and family. During this, he said that retirement is not in the scheme of his life. Although he will not sit in the court from tomorrow, he will remain active in the field of law.

At the beginning of the program, CJ Sinha spoke on Justice Bhaduri’s tenure and praised his contribution to the judiciary. Primary to higher education in Raipur
Born on 10 November 1962 in the family of famous lawyer S K Bhaduri (father) and P Bhaduri (grandfather). Primary and secondary education was done in Bengali Kalibari School, Raipur, and after that secondary education was completed from St. Paul Higher Secondary School, Raipur. B.Com and LLB degrees were obtained from Pandit Ravishankar University, Raipur. Received gold medal in LLB. He was associated with the society which runs three colleges in Raipur, namely Durga College, Vivekanand College and Law College established by his grandfather. He was also a member of educational society and regional societies.
Started practicing law in the year 1985
Joined the practice of law in the year 1985. Practiced in various subordinate courts and High Court within the jurisdiction of Chhattisgarh and the then Madhya Pradesh state. Came to Bilaspur in the year 2000. Worked as a government lawyer and then promoted as Deputy Advocate General in the Advocate General’s Office, Bilaspur and remained in this post till 2003. After this, practiced privately. Dealt with civil, criminal, constitutional, company, labor cases. Was a standing lawyer for CBI. Was also a standing lawyer for public sector undertakings – SAIL, NTPC, banks and many private corporate bodies.

Promoted as a judge of Chhattisgarh High Court on 16 September 16. 2013. Took oath as a permanent judge on March 8 , 2016. He took over as Chief Justice (Acting) of Chhattisgarh High Court from March 11, 2023 to March 29 , 2023
