IND vs BAN :Even after failing in the Chennai Test, Shakib Al Hasan created history, broke this 16-year-old record

Shakib Al Hasan: Former captain of Bangladesh cricket team and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has achieved a big achievement in the Test format.

Shakib Al Hasan: Bangladesh cricket team’s experienced all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has created a new record in the Test format. He created history when he came out to bat on the third day of the ongoing Chennai Test against India. He became the oldest player from his country in the history of Test cricket. He broke a 16-year-old record by defeating left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafiq.

Former Bangladeshi spinner Mohammad Rafiq played his last Test in 2008 at the age of 37 years and 180 days. He held the record of the oldest cricketer. Now after 16 years, Shakib stepped on the third day of the Chennai Test at the age of 37 years and 181 days and left Rafiq behind.

Shakib has been a flop in the Chennai Test

Shakib could not leave his mark in the Chennai Test. He bowled 21 overs in both innings, but did not get a single wicket. He scored 32 runs with the bat in the first innings. Now he is unbeaten on 5 runs in the second innings.

Test career of Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib is playing the 70th Test of his career against India. He has scored 4,575 runs in this format at an average of 38.44. He has five centuries and 31 half-centuries to his name. Shakib’s highest score is 217. He has taken 242 wickets in bowling. He has taken 5 wickets 19 times.

Status of Chennai Test
The first test of the series is going on between India and Bangladesh at Chennai’s Chepauk ground. India has given the target of 515 runs to the visiting team. Chasing this target, Bangladesh team has scored 158/4 till stumps on the third day. Now they need 237 runs. Whereas India needs 6 wickets to win.
