Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai Orders into Vedanta Power Plant Accident in Chhattisgarh-File Photo
Raipur: The Government of Chhattisgarh, through its General Administration Department, has issued orders for an inquiry into the accident that occurred at Vedanta Power Limited, located in Singhitarai under the Dabhra Tehsil of Sakti district.
It is worth mentioning that the accident took place on April 14, 2026, within Unit-1 of the plant’s boiler section, caused by a technical fault at the joint of a water supply pipe connected to the steam pipe.
This mishap resulted in the deaths of several workers and left many others critically injured.
In view of the gravity of the incident, the State Government has appointed the Commissioner of the Bilaspur Division as the Inquiry Officer. The terms of reference for the investigation include determining when and how the incident occurred, identifying its causes and the circumstances surrounding it, and recommending measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
According to the issued order, the Inquiry Officer has been directed to complete the investigation and submit a report to the State Government within 30 days.
In this regard, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his deep grief describing the incident as “extremely tragic and distressing.” Paying tribute to the deceased workers, he extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The Chief Minister has directed officials to ensure a fair and expeditious inquiry into the incident and to take strict action against those found responsible.
