NSA Doval informed the meeting that India has launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ after the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 Indian and Nepali citizens were killed by Lashkar-e-Mohammed (TRF), a shadow group of LeT, after being identified on the basis of religion.

National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Tuesday June 24, 2024 took a tough stand on the issue of terrorism at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Security Advisors’ meeting held in Beijing, China. He said that it is very important to hold the organizers, financiers and supporters of cross-border terrorism accountable.

Doval’s statement is being seen as India’s strong warning against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. He said that India is deeply concerned about terrorist organisations that have been declared terrorists by the United Nations, such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Al Qaeda, ISIS and their allied groups.

NSA Doval told the meeting that after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 Indian and Nepali citizens were identified and killed on the basis of religion by Lashkar’s shadow organization TRF, India has launched ‘Operation Sindoor’

He said that this operation was carried out with the aim of eliminating the terrorist infrastructure and preventing terrorists from carrying out future attacks. India’s action was ‘measured and non-escalatory’.

Need to deal with double standards: Doval

Doval appealed to the SCO member countries to abandon double standards against terrorism and take decisive action against UN-banned terrorist organizations and their affiliates. He stressed that the terrorist structure and the entire eco-system of these organizations should be dismantled.

‘Terrorism is a crime against humanity’

NSA Doval said that all forms of terrorism, especially cross-border terrorism, are crimes against humanity and cannot be tolerated in any form. He called upon the SCO members to cooperate in bringing the culprits, planners, financiers and sponsors of such acts to justice.
