Two ministers from Chirag Paswan’s party, one from the Upendra Kushwaha-led Rashtriya Lok Morcha, and one from Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party are expected to be in the new government. The Speaker’s post will remain with the BJP, and the Deputy Speaker’s post will remain with the JDU.
Efforts to form a new government in Bihar have intensified. Meetings are underway in the capital, Patna. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary met Nitish Kumar at the Chief Minister’s residence on Friday March 6, 2026 . The meeting lasted approximately 25 minutes. JDU National Executive President Sanjay Kumar Jha also spoke separately with Nitish Kumar.
Who will be the BJP’s new Chief Minister in the state, will there be only one Deputy Chief Minister or will there be two Deputy Chief Ministers like last time, and what will be the participation of which NDA parties in the government… Answers to all these questions are being sought.
What will be the participation of which parties?
According to the information received so far, the possible structure of the new government in Bihar could be something like this: The BJP will have a Chief Minister and 15 ministers from the party.
There will be only one Deputy Chief Minister from the JDU. There is talk that Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant, may be appointed to lead the party at a JDU party meeting today.
Two ministers from Chirag Paswan’s party!
Two ministers from Chirag Paswan’s party, the LJP (Ram Vilas), one from Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), and one from Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha, could be in the government. The Speaker’s post will remain with the BJP, and the Deputy Speaker’s post will remain with the JDU.
According to sources, if Nishant Kumar is appointed Deputy CM, there will be only one Deputy Chief Minister in the government. The party believes that no other power center from the JDU should stand in opposition to Nishant Kumar.
When will Bihar get a new CM?
JDU sources say that no decision has yet been made on the next Chief Minister of Bihar. A decision is unlikely before next month. The Chief Minister’s post will only become vacant after April 10th, as the term of Bihar’s current Rajya Sabha MPs ends on April 9th.
JDU leaders are expected to be sworn in as Rajya Sabha members only after April 10th. According to sources, Nitish Kumar will maintain his political base in Patna and will only visit Delhi during Parliament sessions. There has been no discussion yet about Nitish joining the Union Cabinet.
JDU Calls Major Meeting
Meanwhile, JDU has called an important meeting of party leaders in Patna this evening. Ministers, MLAs, Legislative Council members, MPs, and key party officials will be present.
At this meeting, leaders will be informed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has decided to go to the Rajya Sabha due to health reasons. It will also be clarified that while he remains active as a Rajya Sabha MP, the Bihar government will continue to function under his guidance.
“Anger over Nitish’s decision to go to the Rajya Sabha”
Regarding the JDU meeting, party chief spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar said that Nitish Kumar has called the meeting to inform about his decision. Nitish will explain the reasons behind his decision at the party’s legislative party meeting.
He said that there is anger and sadness in the party over Nitish Kumar’s decision to go to the Rajya Sabha. At the meeting, the party’s MLAs, MPs, and Legislative Council members will express their anguish to Nitish Kumar.
“There is no question of joining the RJD”
The JDU spokesperson said that whether Nitish Kumar will change his decision or not is up to him to decide. When Nitish Kumar was not Chief Minister for a period, his three words, “I am here,” gave Bihar confidence. He has earned Bihar’s trust. No pressure can work on him.
Send feedback
Regarding the RJD’s offer, Neeraj Kumar said, “Tejashwi Yadav is acting as a shadow CM. We don’t take his words seriously. The RJD may be salivating, but there’s no question of going with them.”
