Expressing anger over the terrorist incident, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wrote in his post – I am incredibly shocked. This attack on our visitors is a despicable act. The perpetrators of this attack are animals, inhuman and deserving of hatred. No words are enough for condemnation. I have spoken to my colleague and Health Minister Sakina Ittu and she has gone to the hospital to oversee the arrangements for the injured. Needless to say, this attack is much bigger than any attack on civilians in recent years.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha wrote in his post, I strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam. I assure the people that those behind this heinous attack will not be spared. Have spoken to DGP and security officials. Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police teams have reached the area and started search operations. District administration and health officials have been instructed to provide immediate medical facilities to those admitted in Pahalgam. An injured tourist has been taken to GMC Anantnag. I pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured.

PM Modi spoke to Home Minister, Amit Shah on visit to Jammu and Kashmir

Search operation started in search of terrorists

It is being told that panic spread in the afternoon in the Byasaran Valley, 10 km from Pahalgam. The lush green grasslands echoed with the sound of bullets. The terrorists who suddenly came from behind the tea shops built on the site of the grasslands started firing indiscriminately. This created chaos. Some videos of the incident have surfaced. Four people are seen lying on the ground, including a child, while a person sitting on a chair is covered in blood. In the video, two women are seen pleading for help. A local is consoling them.

Terrorists carried out a major incident in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday before the Shri Amarnath Yatra which is going to start from July 3. Terrorists fired bullets on a group of tourists in the Byasaran Valley of Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination in South Kashmir. According to sources, two tourists have died in the attack, while 21 are injured. However, the police have not yet officially confirmed it. The injured are being airlifted to Srinagar Army Hospital. After the terrorist attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the phone. The Home Minister called an immediate emergency meeting with the security agencies. Shah is going to visit Pahalgam to take stock of the situation.
