Leave your shame, speak on the lumps’ campaign: BALCO organized a bike rally, made people aware about breast cancer prevention

Raipur. BALCO Medical Center organised a bike rally in Raipur under the campaign “Sharm Chhodo, Ganthon Pe Bolo” which was aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer. October is celebrated globally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in which people are educated about its symptoms and the life-saving benefits of timely identification.

The bike rally was inaugurated by Health and Family Welfare Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal from Marine Drive in Raipur. He said that breast cancer is a serious disease, but it can be effectively controlled with timely identification and proper treatment. Medical Director of BALCO Medical Center Dr. Bhavana Sirohi said that one in every ten women in India is likely to get breast cancer, in which lifestyle plays an important role. He said that if cancer is detected in the early stage, it is possible to treat it and now breast-conservation surgery can also be done through advanced techniques.

Supported by Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran (NRANVP) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), the rally focused on raising health awareness. It was attended by over 250 people, including 10 biker groups, Indian Army, CRPF, corporate and community members. The rally concluded with a symbolic tree plantation event at BALCO Medical Centre, symbolising hope, perseverance and growth for those affected by breast cancer.
