Lying proves costly: After Supreme Court’s rebuke, prisons principal secretary reprimanded, Yogi government removes him from all posts

Lucknow: Major action has been taken against Rajesh Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Prison Administration Department. Rajesh Singh has been removed from Cooperation and Prison. The government has put Rajesh Kumar Singh on waiting list. In his place MP Agarwal has been given the charge of Principal Secretary Cooperation. Anil Garg has been given the charge of Principal Secretary Prison. Venkateshwar Lu has been given the charge of Gram Vikas Sansthan BKT. Recently , the Supreme Court had asked the state government to take action.

Let us inform you that in the case of absolution of prisoners yesterday, the court had said that it will not tolerate lying before the court and changing its stand as per convenience. The bench of 2 judges said that what was written in the affidavit and his statement are completely different. Some statements given in the affidavit along with the statement appear to be false. Rajesh Kumar Singh had argued on August 12 that the office of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh delayed the disposal of the file related to the absolution
of a convict due to the model code of conduct implemented in the state owing to the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

Not only this, the bench had reprimanded them and said that some officers will have to go to jail, only then will there be reform. The state will have to take action against them. Rajesh Kumar Singh had said that he inadvertently said that due to the model code of conduct, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat did not accept the files related to remission of sentence.
