Three people were killed and 17 injured in a horrific road accident in Mumbai’s Kurla on Monday night. The accident occurred due to brake failure of a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus, a civic official said.
Bus crushed pedestrians
BMC officials said that the accident took place near BSME L. Ward in Kurla. The BEST bus was going from Kurla railway station to Andheri. But suddenly the bus went out of the driver’s control. The bus first crushed the pedestrians and then collided with some vehicles parked there. After this, the bus stopped after hitting the gate of a residential society.
Condition of many injured is critical
After the incident, the local people immediately started the rescue work and admitted the injured to the nearby Bhabha Hospital. Three people died on the spot in the accident. While the condition of some of the injured is said to be critical. According to the officer, it is suspected that the cause of the accident was the failure of the brakes of the bus. After the accident, police and transport department officials reached the spot and investigation has been started.
Bus accident happened at 9.50 pm: Fire Department
The police have arrested the driver of the bus. According to the Mumbai Fire Department, this bus accident happened at 9.50 pm. Dr. Abdul, Medical Officer of Bhabha Hospital, Kurla, said that 10 injured are brought to the hospital.
