Nagpur violence: FIR reveals – rioters tried to tear clothes of women police personnel, threw petrol bombs

During the Nagpur violence, a mob of rioters tried to tear the clothes of some female policemen and threw stones and petrol bombs at the policemen. This has been revealed in the FIRs registered in the Nagpur violence. Violence broke out in Nagpur last Monday when the Vishwa Hindu Parishad protested against the removal of the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. During this, a rumor spread that a religious text was burnt during the protest. Which sparked violence.

Rioters made objectionable gestures to female policemen

The violence started in the Mahal area of ​​Chitnis Park in Nagpur at around 7.30 pm on Monday evening. During this, a mob of rioters pelted stones at the police and petrol bombs were also thrown. Dozens of vehicles were set on fire. Police said that five FIRs have been registered in the case of violence. Of these, the FIR registered at Ganeshpeth police station states that some people attacked the policemen present at Bhaldarpura Chowk. During this, petrol bombs and stones were thrown at the policemen. According to the FIR, taking advantage of the darkness, the mob tried to touch a female policeman and tear her uniform. The mob abused other women police personnel and made objectionable comments. The rioters also made obscene gestures to the women police personnel.

More than two thousand security personnel deployed in sensitive areas

After the violence, the situation remains tense but calm. Also, curfew continues in sensitive areas of the city. More than 2,000 armed policemen have been deployed in sensitive areas. Similarly, quick response teams and riot control police have been deployed on patrol under the leadership of a DCP-rank officer. Currently, curfew is in force in areas falling under Kotwali, Ganeshpeth, Tehsil, Lakadganj, Panchpavli, Shant Nagar, Sakkardara, Nandanvan, Imambara, Yashodhara Nagar and Kapil Nagar police stations.
