NITI Aayog Meeting: 31 out of 36 states and union territories participated in the meeting of NITI Aayog. This information was shared by CEO BVR Subramaniam. He told that during this time PM Modi said that all states and union territories should remove policy barriers to attract investors and create employment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday May 24, 2025 asked states and union territories to remove policy bottlenecks to encourage investment and generate employment. He stressed that no goal is impossible if the central government and the states work together like Team India.

Everyone supported Operation Sindoor – Subrahmanyam

While briefing reporters about the 10th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, CEO BVR Subrahmanyam said that all those present in the meeting unanimously supported Operation Sindoor launched by India to destroy the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan. He said that Prime Minister Modi also urged the states to focus on agriculture, education and healthcare.

31 out of 36 states attended the meeting
After the 10th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog in Delhi, NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam told in a press conference that, ’31 of our 36 states and union territories attended this meeting. This is the highest participation of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog till date… It really shows that people came with a very positive mindset. The five states which were absent – Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, West Bengal and Bihar – we were already informed. We already knew that they are not coming’.

NITI Aayog meeting included two agendas
He further informed that, ‘The agenda of the meeting included two items apart from the action report. Firstly, the theme of the meeting and the first item on the agenda was ‘Developed States for Developed India’. The whole idea is that in the last Governing Council, the Prime Minister had called upon all the states to prepare their respective state visions, so that they have visions which can later be merged into a larger vision for the nation. So I think the agenda for the last one year has been based on this and that is why this was the main theme of today’s Governing Council meeting’.

We will be the third economy of the world in two and a half to three years’

BVR Subramaniam said during this time that, ‘India is at a critical juncture… I think the country is at a stage where it can grow very fast. The Prime Minister has called upon all the states to prepare vision documents at their level and this is already visible in India’s development. As I speak, we are the fourth largest economy.

We are a four trillion dollar economy. Today India is bigger than Japan. If we stick to our plan and thinking, it is a matter of next 2.5-3 years, we will become the third largest economy… The good thing is that about 17 states have prepared their visions and have released or are about to release them. Five of them have released the vision – UP, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and others will release the vision by August’.

Work towards future-ready cities’
The Prime Minister also suggested that states should develop at least one tourist destination in each state in line with global standards and provide all facilities and infrastructure. He said, ‘One state: one global destination. This will also lead to the development of neighbouring cities as tourist destinations.’ Noting that India is rapidly urbanising, PM Modi said, ‘We should work towards future-ready cities.’ He said that development, innovation and sustainability should be the engines of growth of India’s cities. PM Modi also stressed the need to work towards the inclusion of women in the workforce. He said, ‘We should make laws and policies that allow them to be integrated respectfully into the workforce.’

First major meeting after Operation Sindoor
Let us tell you that the Council, the highest body of NITI Aayog, includes the Chief Ministers of all the states, Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories and many Union Ministers. Prime Minister Modi is the chairman of NITI Aayog. In this meeting, PM Modi said, ‘Our goal should be to make every state developed, every city developed, every municipality developed and every village developed. If we work on these lines, then we will not have to wait till 2047 to become a developed India.’ This is the first major meeting of the Prime Minister with the Chief Ministers of all the states and Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories after Operation Sindoor.
