Defects detected in preliminary investigation, batch banned immediately

Raipur: Substandard calcium tablets have not been distributed to any patient or hospital. The defect in calcium vitamin D3 tablets was detected by the warehouse personnel in the preliminary investigation itself.

The personnel had informed the senior officials, the quality control department of Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Ltd.( CGMSCL ) and the headquarters about the breakage of these tablets as soon as they were taken out of the strips. On this information, the batch of these tablets was immediately blocked and the representative of the supplier institution was called for clarification. Calcium Vitamin D3 tablets, which break as soon as they are taken out of the strips, have not been given to any patient nor have these tablets been sent to any hospital.

According to the information received from CGMSC, 500 mg tablets of calcium vitamin D3 were supplied by Health Life Farm Limited.

This consignment of 6500 units in 65 boxes was received at Korba Warehouse. As soon as the tablets were received, their initial testing was done by the workers in the warehouse itself. In the test, it was found that the tablets were breaking as soon as they were taken out of the strips.

The workers immediately informed the quality control department of CGMSC about this and the entire batch of these substandard tablets was blocked. CGMSC said that no material receipt certificate has been prepared for this consignment yet.

As per the policy of CGMSC, no medicine is included in the inventory or distributed to any institution without a material receipt certificate. In such a situation, substandard calcium vitamin D3 tablets have neither been given to any patient nor delivered to any government hospital.

The supplier organisation Healthy Life Farm Private Limited has been instructed to appear and submit samples and give clarification. Along with this, the supplier organisation has also been instructed to replace the medicines of the spoiled batch with new medicines. CGMSC has also warned of taking punitive action if the supplier does not take appropriate action as per the tender conditions.

CGMSC has assured the people of Chhattisgarh that the drug supply system in the state is not only vigilant but the quality monitoring system is also completely strong.

As soon as the medicine is supplied, every batch is inspected and tested in the warehouse itself. All medicines are tested in National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) . CGMSC also informed that only quality certified medicines are made available to the public. If found to be of substandard quality, the defective batch is immediately stopped and its distribution is banned. Stern action is taken against the guilty supplier.
