Swati Maliwal has attacked Atishi to celebrate her victory, despite the fact that her party performed poorly and many big leaders lost the elections.

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) witnessed a sharp downfall as the Election Commission declared the results of the high-intense battle of the Delhi elections on Saturday February 9, 2025 . The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wrested power from Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP. Many top names including Kejriwal himself lost their seats except Delhi CM Atishi and Gopal Rai.

Atishi was seen celebrating, dancing with his supporters in the evening as the results cleared the picture on AAP’s debacle. However, AAP MP and a new rival of the party, Swati Maliwal left no chance to attack Arvind Kejriwal and others for the loss. She also called Atishi’s celebration a “shameless display” after the party faced such a result.

Sharing the video of Atishi’s celebration, Maliwal said, “What kind of shameless display is this? The party lost, all the big leaders lost and Atishi Marlena is celebrating like this?”.

Atishi managed to retain her Kalkaji seat in a hard-fought electoral battle by a margin of 3,521 votes, and defeated her closest rival- BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri.

The win saved the party from further embarrassment after Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Satyendar Jain and many others lost the polls from their respective seats. BJP’s giant killer leaders ended the tenure of many of AAP MLAs and newcomers, and Parvesh Verma emerged as the man of the moment after he defeated Kejriwal.

BJP secured victory on 48 seats while AAP could manage only 22 in the 70-seat Delhi assembly. Congress, for the third time, failed to open account.

Atishi, while talking to the media post winning the seat, said it was not time to celebrate but to continue the fight against the BJP.

Maliwal’s ‘Droupadi’ Attack at AAP

Swati Maliwal on Saturday blamed Arvind Kejriwal’s “ego and dictatorial attitude” for the party’s poor performance in national capital. Speaking with Times Now, Malilwal, who has been a part of India Against Corruption campaign alongside Kejriwal, stated that his downfall was inevitable because of his disregard for public welfare.

Further explaining her post, showcasing Draupadi’s ‘Cheerharan’, the former Chairperson said: “Mein ye maanti hu ki jab ek insaan itna kroor ho jaye, ki wo kisi na sune .. tab mein yeh maanti hu ki esa hota hai…jab ek insaan ka ek mahila ko apne ghar mein pitwaye… ek poori machinery lgaye aur usko poori tareeqe se nasht karde…. tab esa hota hai…” (I believe when a person becomes so cruel that he allows a woman to be beaten at his home, and then use machinery to dismantle her, break … this happens.”

Bibhav Kumar, a close aide of Arvind Kejriwal was accused of attacking and beating Swati Maliwal when she went to meet Kejriwal at his residence. This led to an accusation-war between Maliwal and the AAP, and since then, Maliwal has been campaigning against the AAP for the elections.
