The 75th anniversary of the Constitution of India is being debated in the Lok Sabha today. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi took part in the debate in the Lok Sabha today. Speaking during the discussion on the Constitution in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the central government and accused the Center of attacking the Constitution. Rahul Gandhi said that ‘When we look at the Constitution, we can see that the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Ambedkar, Pandit Nehru are visible in the Constitution, but where did these ideas come from? These ideas came from Lord Shiva, Guru Nanak, Lord Basavanna, Kabir etc. Our Constitution could not have been made without our ancient heritage.
Rahul Gandhi said that ‘Savarkar has clearly written in his articles that there is nothing Indian in our constitution. The fight is between Manu Smriti and the constitution. Now the question is whether you believe in Savarkar or the constitution. Because when you praise the constitution, you oppose Savarkar in a way. You want to run India in the same way as it was run earlier. Giving the example of Eklavya, Rahul Gandhi said that Guru Dronacharya refused to teach Eklavya and said that since you are not from the upper caste, I cannot teach you. Even after this, Eklavya made a statue of Guru Dronacharya and learned to shoot a bow. When Eklavya learned to shoot a bow, Dronacharya asked for Eklavya’s thumb.’
Rahul Gandhi said, ‘When you give Dharavi’s business to Adani, you cut the thumbs of small traders of Dharavi. The country’s youth prepare for competitive exams. So you cut their thumbs by leaking the paper. Thousands of youth of the country used to work hard to join the army, but you brought Agniveer and cut their thumbs. Farmers ask for MSP from you, but you benefit Adani-Ambani, so you cut the thumbs of the farmers. It is not written anywhere in the Constitution that there should be monopoly, there should be Agniveer. It is not written in the Constitution that the thumbs of the country’s youth should be cut.’
Rahul Gandhi, referring to the Hathras rape, asked, ‘Where is it written in the Constitution that the rapist should roam around and the family of the person who has been raped should be locked up. This is written in your book Manusmriti, not the Constitution. Manusmriti is being implemented in Hathras, not the Constitution. I went to meet the victim’s family, the family told me that the UP government had promised to give them land to live somewhere else, but four years have passed and till date they have not been rehabilitated. They come out today and those who raped them threaten them. If you do not do it, the people of the Indi alliance will together rehabilitate that family. We want to tell every person in the country that the Constitution protects you, but the people of the BJP keep attacking the Constitution.’
Rahul Gandhi alleged that ‘You make one religion fight another religion. Where is this written in the Constitution? Show me. Our ideology, the ideology of the Indi alliance, protects the Constitution in the country. Today it is in front of everyone that political equality has ended. There is no social equality, no economic equality. Therefore, our next step will be caste census. We want to show the country where you have cut the thumbs of which people. After that, there will be a new kind of development and new kind of politics in India.’ Rahul Gandhi also said that ‘we will also break the wall of 50 percent reservation.’
