Winter Session of Parliament 2024 Live Updates: The Constitution Amendment Bill to hold Lok Sabha and Assembly elections simultaneously will be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday December 17, 2024 . The Lok Sabha agenda states that the Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill, 2024, known as the One Nation-One Election Bill, will be introduced by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal. Along with this, there will be a ‘discussion on the Constitution’ in the Rajya Sabha.

Shiv Sena also issued whip
Shiv Sena has issued a whip to its MPs asking them to be present in the House on Tuesday in view of the introduction of the bill for holding simultaneous elections in the Lok Sabha. Issuing the whip, Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Barne, the party’s chief whip in the Lok Sabha, said that some very important issues, legislative work are to be discussed and passed in the House. Shiv Sena, led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, is an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha
Congress MP Manickam Tagore has given an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha to discuss the ongoing hunger strike of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. Farmer leaders have been agitating for 21 days on the issue of farmers.
Congress MP Vijay Vasant gave an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha. In this, he demanded a discussion on ‘India’s deepening unemployment crisis’. He cited data from CMIE and PLFS, which show the unemployment rate at 7.8% in September 2024. Despite government claims, there has been no substantial improvement in employment between July 2023 and June 2024.

Meghwal will also introduce the Union Territory Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024. Under this, there is a plan to hold simultaneous elections in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry and the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
