Quickening the Pace of Agricultural Farming in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: The Farming work continues at a fast pace in the state. So far, various crops including paddy, maize, kodo, kutki, tur, moong, peanuts, ramtil have been sown in 36.42 lakh hectare area in the state, which is 75 percent of the target. In this Kharif season, the state government has set a target of sowing in 48.85 lakh hectare area.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has instructed the concerned officials In a high-level meeting held at the Ministry Mahanadi Bhawan on Tuesday July 22, 2025.

Besides agriculture and farming Chief Minister Sai directed the officials to ensure effective prevention of the movement of stray animals on the roads. He said that stray cattle are a major cause of road accidents, to control which all the concerned departments will have to move forward with a quick, concrete and coordinated action plan

CM Vishnu Deo Sai said that make imperative arrangements to provide all required support and facilities to the farmers in cultivation .

He has also asked to distribute certified fertilisers and seeds to the farmers with ease as per their demands. Under the guidance of Agriculture Development and Farmer Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam, these are being continuously monitored by the officials of the Agriculture Department. So far, 10.20 lakh metric tonnes of fertilisers and 7.22 lakh quintals of certified seeds have been distributed to the farmers of the state. As of 21 July 2025, an average rainfall of 446.1 mm has been recorded in the state so far, while the average annual rainfall of the state is 1238.7 mm.

Officials of the Agriculture Department said that this year a target of distributing 4.95 lakh quintals of certified seeds has been set in the state for Kharif 2025, in which 7.88 lakh quintals of seeds have been stored from all sources and till now 7.22 lakh quintals of seeds have been distributed to the farmers, which is 146 percent of the demand. Whereas in Kharif year 2024, 4.64 lakh quintals of certified seeds were distributed from the Seed Corporation in the state.

Similarly, a target of distributing 14.62 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers has been set in the state this Kharif season. Against the said target, 13.78 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers have been stored in the cooperative and private sectors. Against the said storage, 10.20 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers have been distributed to the farmers, which is 70 percent of the target.

Officials of the Agriculture Department said that instructions have also been given to take strict action on any kind of irregularity in the fertiliser-seed distribution system. Besides this, the societies have been asked to store sufficient quantity of fertilisers and seeds and keep constant monitoring.

In the meeting, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Gau Seva Aayog, Visheshwar Singh Patel, Chief Secretary, Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Subodh Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Niharika Barik Singh, Secretaries to Chief Minister, P. Dayanand and Rahul Bhagat, Secretary to Urban Administration Department and Chief Minister, Dr. Basavaraju S. and Secretary of Public Works Department, Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, along with senior officials of the concerned departments were present.
