Raipur: Four new hostels have been completed in Saddu, Raipur, to provide better opportunities for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, OBC, and economically weaker section students to prepare for competitive exams. These hostels have a total capacity of 1000 seats.

Principal Secretary Sonmoni Borah said that Raipur is rapidly developing into a Gyanodaya Hub for children from these communities.

The Principal Secretary informed that students residing in these hostels in Saddu will receive coaching for all competitive exams including Civil Services, NDA, CLAT, NET, SLET, PT, PMT, IIT, and Medical entrance exams.

The entire complex has been developed over approximately 18 acres. The newly constructed hostels include a 500-seater hostel for Eklavya dropout students for coaching, 100-seater hostels each for OBC boys and girls, and a 250-seater hostel for Scheduled Tribe girls for vocational education, research, and other higher education.

Principal Secretary Borah directing departmental officials to have a regularly review of the hostel-ashram management system website and make necessary improvements and suggesting them to adopt tribal lifestyle along with the theme of “My Developed Village” in the national painting competition to be held on February 20-21, besides he is discussing the inclusion of unique local art forms such as wall paintings and Gond art at the individual level during the meeting-Photo Credit-CG/PR

The cost of the project is Rs. 35 crore 30 lakh 64 thousand. It is noteworthy that hostels for boys and girls from backward classes, including the Prayas program, are already operational in Saddu.

Principal Secretary Borah instructed the officials to maintain continuous monitoring of all ashrams and hostels operated by the department in the state.

He directed them to regularly review the hostel-ashram management system website and make necessary improvements. Borah also suggested including tribal lifestyle along with the theme of “My Developed Village” in the national painting competition to be held on February 20-21. Borah discussed the inclusion of unique local art forms such as wall paintings and Gond art at the individual level during the meeting.

He also instructed that large-scale joint programs be organised in March, coinciding with the Aadi Parv festival, a seminar, and International Women’s Day. Senior officials, including Hina Animesh Netam, Director of the Tribal Research and Training Institute, were present at the meeting.
